Turbo Upgrade

What does this consist of? From where am I to start? What changes are done to my stock 2.0L engine for 200+hp?

Contact Alpine Developments. http://www.alpine-developments.co.za/index.html

They have a turbo kit for Tiburons. It is about $1900 us dollars plus shipping.

Expect to pay another $1000 to $1500 for installation, and another $200 to $500 to get it tuned.

You will need to replace your entire exhaust, and also purchase a blow off valve.

If you do a search on this forum under TURBO, you will find the info you are looking for.

Random, when you say "replace your whole exhaust" what do you mean? As in purchase a cat-back system?

HondaEater 10-10-2001 05:04 AM

He means a WHOLE exhaust. The kit comes with headers but will no longer just bolt up to where the factory one is. Also if you leave in the factory pipe, you will have a pinching effect. There is a 3in. pipe from the turbo, then factory pipe for a foot or two, and then back to the 3in. pipe from the cat back. You will need to run 2 3/4 or 3 inch pipe all the way. Hope this helps. Soooo, lets see if I get this straight, The alpine turbo kit comes with headers... but all I have to do is buy a cat-back and then buy more piping and run it from the new headers to the beginning of the cat-back, and it has to be 3 in piping?

No. you cannot buy a cat back. You will need 2.75 or 3" exhaust tubing. None of the existing cat backs are that diameter.

So you will need a FULL CUSTOM EXHAUST from the turbo downpipe back. You will also need a high flow cat, as the stock cat has only 1.5" or 1.75" openings...

Or if you're really cheap you could just run the downpipe... No exhaust :D I doubt you'd pass inspection, though. And it would be kinda loud.

You can run with the stock exhaust for a while...but you would not get 200 HP with the stock exhaust.... :D

eek.gif I didn't know that, what's a source that you'd recomend for a high flow cat.

There are MANY different places that make/sell cats. Any muffer shop should have several cats that should fit the bill. Random Technologies (no affilation), and CATCO are the best known.
