Default Turbo reliability (turbos themselves not engines)

One thing I have learned is that the turbos themselves don't always last. Are there any that last better than that??

If so what's best?

Journal bearing ? Water cooled ?

Oil cooled?

Ball bearing water cooled?

Ceramic bearing air cooled ??

I would say that the choice of bearing itself doesn't matter nearly as much as its service routine and quality of oil. OEM turbo diesels will do star trek mileages provided that they are well serviced, but perhaps a T4 crammed between a D16 and a radiator with a ghetto oil feed won't last 10k miles.
