super and turbo

aite, i've seen posts everywhere dat the i4 is probbly da best bet if you want to super or turbo charge cause the v6 is too weak. However, as i was shopping around, the supercharger only makes the engine go up to 188 hp (this is actually done on a 2001 tiburon, but same engine). the v6 is about the same hp. the i4 plus the super is like 19000 while the v6 is 18000. Is it possible to also add a turbo charger into that engine bay? O, NOS too.

say huh? too many dat's dis's and da's for me to understand ;p

if your question is wether or not a turbo would fit my answer would prolly be yah id imagine it would but i havent poped the hood of one with the V6. my buddy drives a 2002 Sonata with the V6, and itll fit into his.

ok,...

it wont be smart to add a turbo to the V-6 tibby since the crank is weak,... which means your engine will go bye bye

The I-4 loves a turbo

The v-6 might be able to handle a supercharger,... but not for long
All the build up stress will eventually catch up to it,...
The i-4 can take a supercharger

If we havent answered your question,... please restate it

the i4 can handle both a super and turbo very well(red and onpol are looking at 300+hp goals). You can pull 220+hp without doing major engine work safely. But you require a new fuel pump.

V6 is good if your only planning on NA mods and nothing drastic like turbo or super. SharkRacing is coming out with turbo/super for i4 and super for v6 soon.

As for nos, 55shot for stock i4, up to 75 with new fuel pump and minor mods. V6 55shot should be fine, you should check with some of the brains of TSR before you do tho. If you want to mod the hell out of your tib, get a i4, if you want some simple mods and your not going to dedicate mutch time or money into your tib, then get a v6. Because the v6 requires too mutch engine work to get it turbo'ed or super'ed.

There is going to be a supercharger option for the V6.

It should put down about 200-225 to the wheels. Right about the limit of the engine's capabilities.

There has also been some mention of getting some stronger crank journal braces made, so that the engine can handle more than 250 Wheel Hp....

nice...thanks random and everyone else...however my real question is....can i fit a turbo and a super into the i4 engine compartment, or at least a dual turbo?

Random is that going to be a super charger through Shark Racing?

Well single turbo or super fits for sure. To fit a twin turbo its going to require quite a bit of pipe work. A single turbo is better, the monster tibs in Korea with 600+ HP are all using single turbo's. Less lag, less piping, at least in an Inline 4 engine.
