Default Spark Map

Does anyone have a good spark map for a standalone ECU? Beta engine...
I installed my megasquirt boost controller yesterday, but I would like a better spark map before I start cranking up the boost.
I bet there would be some on the Korean forums, as they remap the stock map based ecu, but those forums are a little hard for me to navigate...

dosn't megasquirt have an auto-tune button? They should. You would not want to tune using someone elses data unless it is the same setup.

I'm looking for a spark map, not the fuel map.

Spark and fuel should both be tuned on-car. Using someone else's map is asking for trouble.

Thankyou for your insight Stocker. And while I agree with you that the best way to get a spark map is to spend time with a qualified tuner on a load-bearing dyno, a great way to get a basemap is to compare other peoples spark tables.
And the closest load-bearing dynos are 8 hours drive from me.

So if someone is willing to share their spark table with me, I would really appreciate it.

Is there something wrong with the quick tune for the megasquirt? It should be able to get you around town until you can get to a dyno and max it out.

I got your back funkypc. Ill upload my msq for you ,everything I have for tuning is in that tune .it works on the ms1 029y4 code. You should be able to just adjust your constants to get it to work . I run 660cc injectors @45psi . So use the tool in the constants tab and adjust the req fuel from 5.1 to whatever you have for injectors using the req fuel generator tool. Then go into the fuel map and use the tool to shift the whole map from my req fuel which is 5.1 to whatever yours figured too. Or you can tell me and ill adjust the msq for you. let me know. Ive been tuning the car for a bout a year now , up hear in MT at 3335 feet alt. You may have to make some adjusments to it but not may hopefully. here is the link for the MSQ.I have two on this page one is under James Sabo, and the other is under koreancorvette01. Either will work good but the newest is the koreancorvette01 tune, it is tuned for the KFX ms the other is for the regular ms built. The only real difference is the idle valve tuning.

Thankyou koreancorvette01.

That was exactly the kind of helpful post that I was waiting for in this thread!
like I said, my fuel map is dialed in fine, so I will probably just work with the spark table. I recently changed my injectors, and my fuel table stayed surprisingly close with only adjusting the req fuel. Nothing tunerstudioMS can't fix for me!

are you running stock compression ratio?

Generally the best way to tune for optimal spark is on a loaded dyno. This way you can watch your torque curve real time and adjust timing till torque starts to fall off at each load point. The big limitation with the MS is no knock control so you need to watch the torque curve as well as have microphones on each cylinder to listen for knock. Street tuning Ignition Timing is VERY hard and dangerous.

No. I started with the alpine kit and upgraded from there new turbo and intercooler and downpiping. I have the head spacer. So im @8.5 to :1 I believe. Oh and 03tibe85 I have a fix for that knock sensor problem. If you leave the safcII wired in like I did it reads the factory knock sensor still even though MS doesnt and it will record the high knock so it has helped me quite a few times. Just a little trick I figured out.
