Piston choices
So pretty much I'm in the process of buying/ piecing together a turbo kit for my beta swapped x3
It's just a 99head with 03block stock right now. I'm planning on tuning with an fic yada yada yaaa blah blah .. The point is that I can't seem to find out options for pistons What I see is wisoco/ or cp. I know I see a 9.1 compression piston is the most common Goal: make 300+ hp -might want to connecting rods not sure if it's in the budget Just would like to know if they're are more option and maybe cheaper I see honda guys have pistons that drop right in the stock bore that would be great.. The once I've seen do it those are cast pistons. So idk if that's available? |

I had my OEM G4GF pistons milled to achieve a lower compression when i had my engine rebuilt and transmission at the same time due to the supercharger killing the auto so i didn't have money to spare on forged pistons etc as they say the beta's a good up to 300hp ?

The stock rods will hold up to 300hp, wiseco does make a stock bore stock compression forged piston, it's just not in their catalog. The only cast pistons that I know of were the tigerlily pistons that kspec sold, but those are no longer available.
oh, and you're missing an exhaust stud :P |
lol everyone tells me that. i really need to go get one already.
but about the pistons. i know stock beta can hold 300hp. so pretty much wisoco is the best to go with? and do they even have a rod set up for us? or does anyone sell stronger then oem rods for cheaper? |
Pauter makes rods for the beta, the go for around $850 for a set. I have also seen posts talking about Crower rods for the beta, but I've never seen any definitive pricing, I believe they are built to order. 300whp is a lot of power for an accent, you'll have traction issues long before you can really use all that power.

Shot peening your connecting rods may help ?
|
Wiesco pistons on Pauter rods are the very heart of my build.

Not really worried to much about traction I will be getting a solid tire to run and I have suspension ready to be installed just haven't got around to it
I'm not sure if rods will be in the budget just yet. So I think I'll just go with pistons for now. And swap rods later on. What do you mean xgodzx shot peening? Never herd of that. |
