guys, has anyone here ever run a dual rail still with the ability to control the ignition timing via SMT-6?

also, if ever I dont use the ignition timing to retard the engine, can I hit 300++ whp safely considering I have a T3/T4B, low-comp pistons (roughly 8.8:1 CR) and recently, my car hit 270++whp at 13 psi. I'm hopefully targeting 20psi to achieve 300 whp. any inputs please laugh.gif

btw off topic, this site has been really helpful in my build. the rdtiburon community is so helpful here, you people have saved me $$$$$ on my project. more power to you rdtiburon

that's exactly what i'm using on my car,
i'm not sure you would be able to reach you goal with out using the ignition timing but i'm not the best person to tell you that here.
you should ask Denisst

very sorry but am I correct in assuming that what you meant was you run dual fuel rails and you can still control ignition timing via SMT-6? smile.gif

how did you wire it? is it still the same as wiring the smt-6 for its fuel and ign controls + connecting the extra injector wire? smile.gif

You shouldnt be able to control the timing and dual rails at the same time because pin 9 on the SMT-6 either needs to be the negative for the extra injectors (dual rail) or the crankshaft position sensor input; since it cant be both you are restricted to timing adjustment or extra injectors.

Denis instructed me to use the MSD-DIS II to adjust the timing as its more capable and provides better spark anyway.

not exactly sure how your computer reacts whit boost
so i can only speculate

our obd2 computer when used with extra injectors and proper tuning don,t need igniton retard..
i ran over 25 psi before getting into problems with stock pistons

if you really need to retard timing then yes it can be done,i have something to work it out

I don't think my car's ECU reacts differently with boost... the MAP Sensor in my car is only a 1 bar type MAP Sensor... so I am assuming the ignition is still advanced even when boost comes... sigh.. I don't think I can afford nor properly calibrate a stand-alone engine management anyway.. damn this is a long rut to get stuck into...

there could be your problem...for the amount of boost that you are running, you only have 1 bar map sensor...i would upgrade that first
