need turbo help!! turbo noob here

my buddy has a spare turbo off his sr20 and its a Garrett m24 ar.80 the numbers on the middle of it are "yc 0694j, 14411-50f00,466113-7002a"

i have no idea when it comes to turbos and pretty much im wondering if it would be worth putting on my rd2? and a ballpark of whats its worth?(there is shaft play so it needs to be rebuilt)

and questions or comments would be greatly appreciated

Thanks, Chet

ill try to post pics in a bit

A/R .80 is kinda big so it'll take some RPM to spool it up. For a DD a .42/.48 is more like it ... but it'll work.

Your turbo is a T25 and should have a 7psi waste-gate.

If what you are after is "no boost until way high engine speeds" then maybe .80 for an RD. If you want more power over the whole powerband, what ^ he said

14411-50f00 is a Nissan part #. It's an OEM turbo off a red top SR20DET. Google that number for info.

Alright guys thanks. And just one more question...when u say it won't spool till really high rpm, how high exactly would the rpms have to be

If it'll spool an SR20 below 3k, there's no reason why a beta of the same displacement would hurt much worse.

Some of your exhaust algebra might be a bit different, but with a good manifold (none of that el-cheapo OXB log BS) you should have a nice spooling turbo. The biggest hindrance might be the repairs thouhg. With similar rebuilt turbos going for $250-300 you might better off to buy a new one or better yet use it as practice and try rebuilding it yourself.
