Default Is this intercooler crap?

For $86, is it a steal and good value or should I stay away from it?

Will do the job but there arent many FPI (fins per inch) to help cool when the outside temps begin to climb. I have a CXracing unit and you can feel the transition from hot to cool when you run your hand over the top, only about 1/2 of the IC is cool to touch.

Unless you will be shooting for lots of pressure and hard driving I would say it would be a reasonable unit for you.

I love my Miatas Geddy intecooler, 3.5" thick and its 16"x30". I can literally go rail it around and grab the manifold and its cool to the touch!

There have been many issues with CX Racing products on the Genesis Coupe. Aside from sucky fin density and heatsoak, they typically have poor fitment on their FMIC/piping and their manifolds. There are several threads on the Genesis forums with unhappy customers due to the product received.

BBB is a f*cking joke of a company(no its not run by the government like people think it is), its extortion at its finest

someone puts a neg claim in and you have to PAY to dispute it

ive known TONS of people with cx racing intercoolers who never had an issue, hell i got one(although i cant speak about it from experience since my damn car never moves)

if you arent shooting for 54234234 hp like all gc dyno queens then youll be fine

I've never had an issue with any CX racing products and neither have my customers. Although, I would recommend getting a bar/plate cooler instead of tube/fin for obvious reasons.

The density of their cores is pretty good for the price. I noticed great results on the Veloster from stock to FMIC with temperature drops and with heat soak.

That cooler will work well for what you are wanting to do but I would recommend going with their bar/plate version of it as it will not cost much more.

CX-Racing piping is also very well done for the price.. rolled ends, good thickness, etc.

Unless you are going to be tracking the car all the time competitively or looking for a dyno queen, a CX unit will be more than enough for you.

^ it obviously varies from vehicle to vehicle. I've read numerous positive reviews.

If going on a Genesis Coupe, go elsewhere. They're failing on that platform. Your Elantra would probably be fine and similar results as posted above.

I've had to install a CX racing intercooler kit on an R33 skyline. It was disgustingly bad. There was swarf around the edge of the piping, the piping and brackets didn't line up at all, the instructions were sparse and the supplied fasteners were sh*t-tier. I believe their quality control is non existent, judging by the varied reviews that I've read. The intercooler itself is fine.

Intercoolers for street cars, especially those with big turbos, actually function as heat soaks. Even a drag pass up to triple digit mph will not heat up the entire thing, and then you are likely to spend at least two or three minutes off boost, farting around.
