Godspeed's 70/68 T4 turbo
Would this be too big of a turbo for a beta? Someone near me is selling a brand new one that was never installed at a price I cant pass up if it will work well on my car.

A T4 is not typical on off the shelf manifolds. It can be made to work, but is big and would lag. Besides, isn't Godspeed a china knockoff ebay brand?

A 68 trim T4 on a beta would be a horrendous match. Especially with a heavy steel wheel and journal bearings.
A good turbo manufacturer can customize a large compressor on a smaller trim turbine with full balance to accommodate large boost efficiently on a small disparagement engine. No cheap, but it's the correct way to shop for a large turbo. What price are we taking about? Because you can upgrade a turbo to ball bearing and billet wheels. It just depends on budget. For instance I bought a used ebay turbo with shaft play and for the cost of a new ebay POS turbo I am having mine rebuilt with quality, name brand internals and a larger, lighter and better compressor wheel. It all depends on goals and budget. |
