For the past two weeks I have been on a searching rampage trying to find the most info I could on this forum
and many others. The reason for that is because next summer I absolutly want my car to change from
Naturally/Aspired to BOOSTED.

But Most of the stuff I read about, I dont really understand. I figured out a few thing one is that the Alpine turbo is garbage ?? is this true ?

and you can't run over 200whp without changing rods & pistons but dont know if any of it is true or not ?

I despretly need info.....I'm not yet decided beetween a turbo and a supercharger up till now turbo's seem too complicated and superchargers seem to be easier for me...but I need some info

I need some info of which turbo to get or which supercharger to get...which is better ? where can I find the products ? the costs of getting a turbo setup and all the info in beetween

Hopefully this post will help me to get prepared for my next springs boosting experience !

Thanks !

go to www.howstuffworks.com

search for turbocharger. it will start you off in the right direction.

the problem with the alpine turbo iseverything pretty much.

restrictive manifold
small turbo
crappy fuel management

it will do great for up to like 220whp, but anything more and you might as well not even get it as a starting point, as you will be changing nearly everything.

Alpine utilizes a small turbo, a small intercooler, and what looks to be a poor exhaust manifold design. Not really meant to push lots of power.

200 is a safe number not to go over to keep the internals with minimal wear and tear. 200 is more than enough power out of a light FWD street car to keep you happy for a while.

Supercharging is tough because there is little space to work with. The only supercharger kit available is Alpine, and that won't push you much over stock levels.

Yeah, the alpine kits are like beginner kits. And by beginner kits, I mean they are for 10 year olds. They are NOT good.

Other kits?

BSE has a kit out.

Flyrydes has a kit coming out.

Speed Factor is still selling them, but if you buy one from him, you are on your own.
