Forgive my noobiness

Probably the noobiest question you'll see all day and maybe this has been answered, but can someone explain load? Like why does a car not build boost when I rev it in netrual?

Load...strap a rope to your car and wrap the other end around yourself, now walk. You have just created load.

An engine works in the same way, it is impossible for the body to generate the amount of force require to move that vehicle when there is no opposing force.

A turbo will not build boost in neutral because there is no force on the engine for it to work hard enough.

What takes more power, spinning the flywheel or moving the car forward? Power = fuel/air burnt = exhaust = energy to spool the turbo = not much spinny with no power/load.
