Hey everyone

Just bought my FMIC for my turbo project and i was wondering if it would be safe to get it powdercoated black? Im going for a stealth look and dont like the silver color of it. Thanks for the help. I love this forum!

just paint it, alot cheaper.

i dont think powdercoating would work very well on the thin fins, it might.

it does hinder the performance (both painted and powdercoating) i believe, but you wont notice it.

Im afraid painting it wont hold up to rock chips and stuff. Thats why I want to powdercoat it because it will hold up alot better I think.

I'd like to see some research on black paint hurting the color. The voices in my head tell me that I read a regular heat sink painted or anodized black does better than bare aluminum, due to the way aluminum sheds heat.

Painting won't hurt efficiency much but powder coating will because its a thicket coating so it will actually trap in the heat rather than let it out.
