I think what most people do is find a crashed evo and take the engine out of it but I didnt see any over there, how big do the engins get because I noticed that the passat we rented had a 1.6 in it
While you do an engine swap you should get the best one possible so you dont want to get a better one and change it again,if you find an evo then you can also get the turbo and anyting else still intact such as the intercooler but if the car is totaled then the intercooler is destroyed

Everything is possible, it depends on $$$
As I know in EVO engine is on the left, tranny is on the right (if you look from the car). On Tib - engine on right, tranny - one the left. So you will need another tranny, axles.
Correct me if I'm wrong.

It wouldn't be hard to get an Evo engine...its the exact same engine that is in the Eclipse GS-T and GSX. A wrecked GS-T shouldn't be too hard to find. But if Dmitry is correct then I would think you would need a new trans and axles and that would get costly...not to mention fabricating new mounts and such.

Well .. i know that the tibs have the engine to the right and gerabox to left. and 4g63 are oposite ....but does mitsubishi have a engine types who uses the same engine mounts as 4G61/G4GF ? I´ve been looking all over the net for swap pages but little info about it so i´m really dosen´t know actually.. But maybe a G4GF with turbo kit are a better choice ... And i was thinking about building the ECU myself ,,a friend of mine showed me this : http://www.bgsoflex.com/megasquirt.html
It´s a ECU management that you can make yourself or buy complete for the double price of doing it itself ... It´s a MAP based ECU so it will work perfect for me here in norway ...

I know the 4G63T/K20A in Eclipses are directly opposite of the Tib. None of the DSM Engines will work without a lot of work. If you did swap in an GS-T engine, you would need to use the DSM tranny anyway, even if by some miracle the Tib tranny sat on the engine decently. The power of a 4G63T would straight up kick a Tibby's transmission and clutch's ass.
Evo you might could get away with a swap.. still it would be a pain in the butt as engines are hard to find as they get snatched very fast, and Norway probably isn't a place where Evos are everywhere, I don't think. Doesn't the 1.6 have different engine mounts/etc. than the 1.8/2.0?
Turbo might be the best bet, as with a 1.6 manual the car is probably light and 160whp or so would be more than enough for a good fast car, well 10X faster than what you have now. smile.gif

Well ..i think the 1.8 and 2.0 have the same mounting points as 1.6 but i´m not sure, but ...all over ,,,,feks alpine turbo kit´s are for the 2.0 engine ,,,can i use this at my 1.6 beta1 engine ? and kspec sells forged pistons for 2.0 ,,i can´t use that since i have the 1.6 ...so what to do to get 8,5:1 instead og stock ..?
