Default Re: Need assistance with my SAFCII

well my cuzin is getting bored of his Tibbie and wants to push some serious numbers...right now the car is completely bone stock and painted a dark glossy shade of baby blue...

the car is kept bone stock other wise from outside...

money is not an issue at all, he's expecting to spend about $6XXX and wants to know what turbo kit is ideal for his needs....well to describe his need, well its the need for speed, he doesnt race on the road, only on the track for all that are about to lash out for street racing...

any shops or affiliates on here that have decent price for doing a full make over on my cuzins Tibbie?

he wants to push about 15psi....Forced Induction is the main motive of performance here...no nitrous is wanted, jus pure clean forced induction

i have been referred to get the Alpine kit which is about $3000 (U.S. im assuming as all prices are U.S. these days), and in that case he can have extra flow for suspension and other goodies...any input will be appreciated...

oh and his main intention is to make it one of the fastest if not THE FASTEST tibbie in North America

thanks

Jim

i believe its 2900
www.speed-factor.com

15 psi should be achievable with this kit
and on stock internals

I'd change pistons just in case, and if he wants to be that fast then make sure that he has a very deep pocket...

pretty much, you will need(in order of importance)

1. speedfactor turbo kit(talk to him about getting some things eliminated from the turbo kit that you wont need).
2. forged low compression pistons.
3. stronger rods
4. something to control it all. you can go straight to stand alone with haltech, or you can wait around for some new developments that look to be taking shape with using the stock ecu and modifying it.
5. upgraded injectors(not sure about size, someone else will chime in. id guess about 480.
6. turbo throttle body(65+mm)
7. BIM(airram is the best choice)
8. if you dont already have it, an exhaust. with the power you're making, youll want 3 inch pipe.

i think thats it, but im tired. wink.gif

Default Re: Nitrous and turbo question.

Lemme be straight up and truthful....

Tell your cousin hes going to spend ~$8000 for what hes looking for. Tell him not to go with the Alpine kit, and possibly just go custom. Tell him to expect many problems. Tell him hes not going to be the fastest Tib in North America.

Its not an easy task, I'm near the end of the turbo journey myself and this is a f***ing pain in the ass to say the least.

Its not cheap either...
PM me if you have any specific questions.
15 psi is not going to be possible with the Alpine kit or many others because you have to strengthen the engine and lower the compression for daily drivability... unless he gets a manual boost controller and has 2 settings for driving and racing.
