I hate boost spikes mad.gif

I am currently having the same problem with my car right now. My T3/T4 is just one year old and already the boost drops from 12 to 9 psi at the redline sad.gif

I am using an internal wastegate setup that's good for at least 7-8psi and I'm using a manual boost controller.

Will installing an external wastegate really solve this? I'm using a 3inch downpipe and exhaust with no cat and muffler.

I really want to hold on to 12psi..

Hey man i split this post, we dont bring up posts that are stupid old unless we really really need to.

i dont think its the wastegate, as if it was the internal wastegate running out of efficiency it would over boost, not to mention a t3/t4 can sure as hell handle 12 psi.

Try unhooking the signal to the actuator and see if it will boost past 12. if not then you have a leak in the manifold or similar

thats not a internal wastegate issue at that psi with that turbo. you probably have a vac leak, or your BOV is leaking.

whats your vac pulling at idle?

What MBC are you running? Best place to look if your not having any vacuum/boost leaks.

whjat kind of intercoler and piping sytem do you have"
what kind of exhaust system are you running?

If your running an internal gated turbo where are you running the line to the wastegate actuartor, if it's going to the compressor housing that could be your problem, you may only see 9psi at the intake manifold but in the compressor you will still be at 12psi, run the boost line from the actuator to a port on the intake manifold so it will run the wastegate from actual manifold pressure, then it should hold steady.

It can sure as hell boost past 12. But it cant hold it at that.

I have inspected vacuum lines and the BOV and I'm pretty sure I dont have leaks. My gauge reads Im at 18-20 In.Hg at idle. It has always been at this ever since.

Im not sure of the brand, but it's a bleed type.

Yep my wastegate is lined from the compressor to the actuator. Okay I'll try that. smile.gif

external Wastegate will solve your issues i had this problem 4 years ago and since i went with a Tial 38mm External gate my problems were solved.Believe it or not even on Low boost an internal gate can cause a problem....The external rectified it RIGHT AWAY
