I removed that clamping part so that I could just plug it straight in when I did the SAFC2 install on my first gen. It made it alot easier to deal with and never came loose.
i think i took my screw off, since it has the hinge, the press fit of the plug AND the clamp holding that b**** on..
most likely if its binding up and not shutting on the other end, the first part wasnt put in right and the male part of plug isnt lining up with female part.
like java, i also took the clamp out, since the plug held in without it, but one day i accidently kicked my PNP harness and my car died.. lmao.gif

well i got it and and the car still does not start. i unplugged the fic and tried it but nothing. my check engine light does not come on when i have the key turned to accessory either. any suggestions?
how did you wire it? did you double and triple check everything, and solder it together?
how about the wires that needed to be cut and intercepted? how did you do those?
i know its a HUGE pain, but when i do most wiring installs, i check to see if parts of the whole are functioning throughout the process so i don't get too far and have no idea what to look for.

i used wire taps to connect all the wires together. when intercepting, i took the wire coming from the pins on the plug to the input wire on the fic and then the wire going to the actual sensor or part i connected to the output wire on the fic.

First off, don't use wire taps. Second, when you intercept you have to cut the wire on the harness, solder one wire from the FIC to one of the cuts and the other to the other cut. It's all in the instructions.
I would assume you would need to connect the FIC Input wire to the cut wire running to up into the harness and the FIC Output wire to the cut wire running into the ECU plug. The purpose of the intercept is to take that signal, modify it with the FIC, and then input it into your ECU. Right now your intercepts are doing nothing.

I'd say your going to have to use the Mag Crank style wiring so you can intercept CKP A & B signal wires. Too bad the FIC doesn't have the capability to switch between maps with a toggle switch. It would almost make it perfect. Good Luck!
I think that the newest FIC software version has the capability of switching between two different maps via a toggle switch.
