Notice there is still some oil left in the pix. And some of that oil is the GL-5 gear old. I'm just asking if that oil could have caused even more wear. Cause the tranny didn't seem to leak when more was oil added...

As I was told. I twas regular Castrol Oil. and not gl5....so I dont know.... random needs to speak up.


Its possible the CV joint was popped out. I had that problem. for a bout 3 months after my tranny swap. And did not realize it. It looked like it was in but it was not.

and it ONLY leaked when driving.


but to answer your question.

I doubt it.

gl5 only eats yellow metals.

NO yellow metal in the gears or in the axles seals.

just the syncros.

but I did noticed...GL5 seems to have caused my tranny to be hotter. after short drives.

So that might have added to the over hitting when it started getting low.

Oh well, type of oil or what-not. Not the main issue.. just this "PERSON" (LOL) is llama... *cough*
I mean, who would drive 100-150 miles on a dry tranny and not notice it howling? lol...

It couldn't be ANYONE *I* know.... hahaha... poke Could it??? lol..

Damm!! I guess I shoul go check my oil out. only 32,000 miles. I drive my car pretty hard so I think it's time to check the oil. Bye the way, Random is God, how did you take apart a tranny with only a leather man? bow_down tongue.gif lol!!
