Lantraluvr I dont hang out to any of the sites you had mention. smile.gif By the way im just curious on your post;Why would'nt anyone buy a 1.8 beta here in the philippines if ever there is one? It has more HP,right? n torque? smile.gif

The Elantra is supposed to be a cheap, economical car. If there was a 1.8 sold here or the 1.8 was the only engine available, people will think it would be a gas guzzler compared to the other 1.6 cars and no one would buy it. If this engine was in the Coupe/Tiburon, then people wouldn't care much about fuel consumption but instead care about power.

Hey, do you know if the Coupes here are 2.0?

Guys, the 1.6L beta is used in Europe, Asia quite a bit. Yes, it IS a beta, not an Alpha, and YES, it is a 1.6L. It was used in both Tiburons and Elantras.

The tranny SHOULD bolt up, but I would worry about the strength of the gears, as I'm assuming hyundai didn't build a beefy 1.6L tranny.
