Default Tranny Slippin!!!

Whats up,

I want your thoughts on what i should do! First let me tell you a lil whats goin on, i bought a 2001 tibby about 9 months ago, brand new with 2 miles on it ,she was perfect. But now she has 12000 and the tranny keeps burning up its fluid and it is starting to slip alot. Sooo i went to the dealership and they dont want to warranty it b/c they said its from abuse. SOoo what should i do now? im goin to keep the car for a long time, soo i want something thats goin to last and not goin to give me problems, soo should i do a 5-speed conversion or just buy a new auto? whats the pros and cons, and yes ive read all the old post and ive done as many searches as i can, but every1 keeps talking about a check engine light that stays on? is that goin to f*%# up my tibby after a while?

1 last question is i deceside to do the tranny swap and get the 5speed, what upgraded parts can i buy other then stock from the get go, for example stage 3 clutch, stonger tranny ?

Thanks Guys, Fred

1. Have you been abusing your A/T?

2. The service technician should be able to tell you exactly why he feels the tranny was abused.

3. In the following posts from other members, there will be a 1-800 number you can call for further assistance with warranty difficulties.

Service techs HATE to do warranty work because they don't get paid as much or as fast. Automatic transmissions are evil, complicated monsters in the eyes of the technicians and they don't want to put all of that work into taken it apart and diagnosing the problem unless they REALLY REALLY have to.

my auto Elantra did that... I'd go for the 5-speed swap. my opinion after several cars is that I should've had 5-speed all along, it's relatively easier to fix and cheaper overall to repair. damn torque converters to hell!

I would definately call Hyundai's warranty 800 number and report the dealership. I know that every time I've gone for service, the techs are always askin' me to give them high scores if I get a survey in the mail...which I have. I would also definately ask them to show proof of the abuse and backup the proof with how it relates to your style of driving...just because you "gun" the engine shouldn't warrant abuse...it's an f---ing SPORT COUPE.

ooor....try a different dealer if you can. Can't hurt to get a second opinion!

Usually if you put up enough of a fight, the dealer WILL back down...the customer is ALWAYS RIGHT....we just have yell louder to prove it! (Making sure EVERYONE in the dealership can hear you is a big plus!)
