hey on this problem, was youre gears grinding going from 1st to 2nd in mid to high rpm's? i am having that problem right now but i dont know if it is my clutch going out from so much racing or what. it only grinds going from 1st to 2nd at rpm's above 4000 and when the car is warmed up. if the car is cold then there is no grinding at any rpm and if i drive normal there is no grinding.

yeah thats how it started...and then just got progressively worse!!! go get it checked out!!! i had 3000 miles left on my powertrain! and well its getting fixed!

if your gear box makes grinding noises when upcshifting from 1st to 2nd while up higher in the rev range try putting in slightly more gearbox oil. This fixed the same problem in my car.

the dealer changed out the gear oil and then took the car out again....samething so they are rebuilding....fine with me....i get a rental and everything is under warranty!! so why not???

would it be okay to go with a clutch and not the flywheel....funds are getting scarce.....???

Yes, as long as the dealer resurfaces the flywheel if it is needed.

i've read it's best always resurface the flywheel when getting a new clutch so the clutch plate has a fresh surface to mate to.
