Towing stuff with a Hyundai
 

has anyone ever towed anything with their Hyundai? How did the transmission hold up to it?

Im moving in a couple of weeks and I dont have alot of stuff. bSo i was thinking about just hooking up a hitch and getting a small uhaul enclosed trailer, but kind of afraid that it may hurt the car. Its the sensible thing for me to do since I have 2 friends with trucks who are putting stuff in the back and helping me move as well. The uhaul trailer will be used for some bigger things I have.

So anyone done it? How did it work out?

if they have trucks, they should be able to tow the small trailer as well i'd asume... but yeah your car would hold up to it, i saw a picture of some guys tib on here that had a trailer on it a while back tongue.gif

I know a few people who have towed small trailers.

I would also be inclined to have someone with a truck pull the trailer.

I towed a 5X8 uhaul with about 1500lbs 400 miles and I needed a new clutch and rear shocks. Springs were fine.

I towed a uhaul sport trailer from South Carolina to Las Vegas with no problems at all except that I needed a new windshield because a truck kicked up a rock.

If you have more than fits in your hatch, and you have to rent a trailer, then you might as well spend a few more bucks and rent a box van. That's if you're moving short distances since they charge per mile. If you're traveling a huge distance, then rent a pickup truck from a car rental company with unlimited mileage.

^^ This uhaul sport has more usable space then the entire folded back seat and trunk without the hatch cover It's enough to get the essentials across country and you'll pay about $600 including the cost of the trailer hitch.

The first pic was in Las Vegas, the 2nd pic was in South Carolina. I stopped in Kansas and did some work for UrS0NvS and installed the rear air wing which I had previously sold to him after I realized it was much more sexy with it on.

Be sure to observe the GVWR and you'll be fine. Go easy on the gas and brake, and use lower gears on the hills.
