Default Syncros and Gears

Does anyone know....are the syncros and gears in RDs made out of brass or steel? I'm thinking about getting a transmission magnetic drain plug but if the syncros and gears are brass, then it wont really matter since the shavings wont stick to the plug.

You already have a magnetic drain plug. I pulled mine out last week and had a bunch of metal shavings stuck to it. Took a bit to clean off, but did get them all off. Don't waste your money on another magnetic plug, you already have one!

Pull an old harddrive apart and remove the rare earth magnets from it and let it stick to the drain plug to strengthen the magnetic effect.

The gears are steel, BTW. Brass synchros if memory serves but definitely steel gears.
