O2 elantra tranny for me..with the stock rd1, crossing the line in 4th bouncing of the rev limiter(6.8) ., the elantra tranny is only near the redline in 4th. this is at 19 psi with lsd and the same tranny for the past 6 years.. I wont go past 8 psi 5th gear though, just for safety., 5th gear may grenade after 14 psi.

 

thanks regit, didnt someone sell a 5th gear that could handle it? SFR? maybe? who makes an LSD for the XD trans right now? i might splurge a little on a diff.



i can get my hands on a 02 5spd with 215k miles.... no service records.... its cheap but i think id rather spend 400-600 on a trans with 50k-100k than one with double that many miles!

 

I don't remember a stronger 5th being sold,but, I would buy it though!!...Any rd1 lsd should work,.I don't beleive my M&TEC lsd is sold anymore.

 

years and years and years ago there was a complete gearset sold the company name eludes me though

yea i know there was a fifth gear sold, i never saw or have forgotten about a complete set tho... 4 grand is ridiculous. haa

 

That looks like the B&M shifter I got for when I Get around to swapping my own trans. Picked it up from Hurst on Ebay for about 130 or so. It fits the white base in the late 01 and up Tibs. I currently have the black base as I have the early 01.

 

so you have this style shifter in your 01? that cant be... these "pivot ball" style shifters only came in 02 elantras 03 tibs and up.

 

I don't currently, but they tell me that they updated the shifter midway through the 2001 model year. It should bolt right in. I even had the ability to order this "White shifter base" directly from Hyundai which was claimed to fit later 2001 models. Maybe if somebody has an RD made after, say Feb 2001, maybe they can verify?
