Default quick question about different gen trannies

alright....i am about to purchace a 5 speed swap for my car, and the guy said that i could use a 01 tranny w/ all the 97 accessories. I thought that the 01-02 tranny wouldnt' bolt up to the tranny mounts on my gen...am i correct, or would it be a good idea to buy this. the one from my gen is out of a 98 w/ 85k miles...the one of out of the 01 has 17k miles, and was driven by a woman.

that is correct.

The 01 tranny will bolt up fine.

Its the flywheel you have to worry about. its a slightly differetn design.

Just buy a light weight fidanza flywheel for you gen smile.gif

as long as you keep the flywheel that came with your motor, you've got no worries.

If you want to buy a fidanza flywheel, just order the "pre 6/99" for your 1997 Beta motor.

If you keep the stock flywheel and clutch, spring for a new throwout bearing. At $40-$50, it's cheap insurance.

The flywheel will not come as part of the tranny. Either tranny will bolt up. The 01 or the 98. Stick with your stock flywheel and you will have no problems.

If you decide to order a flywheel, go for the pre-6/99 flywheel.

When you say "5-speed swap" what do you mean? Your profile says you already have a 5 speed.

what's the price he's asking and what does it come with. i, along with several other people on the board, have done this swap. we'll tell ya what you need if this "kit" seems like a rip off.
