Default Quaiffe now seriously considering diffs!

I posted this info over on FXTreme, but figured you guys would want to know too since we've got some strong cars over here as well.

I was finally able to beat/persuade/manwhore the information from KAAZ regarding the differences between our diff and the Eclipse diff. It turns out that KAAZ uses the front differential from an AWD Eclipse, but with one major change: The diff has to be flipped 180 degrees, so it always sees us as driving in "reverse". KAAZ fixes this problem by flipping the cool little preloader device that runs the clutchpacks; they do this because a KAAZ diff acts differently in reverse than it does going forward.

The current operating theory between myself and my contact at Quaiffe is simple: Since the 100% mechanical workings of a Quaiffe are non-directional (and are hence much superior to the KAAZ units) then it should not need any alterations to work. Simply rip out an Eclipse AWD front diff, flip it over and stick it in the tranny. The only problem is the Quaiffe engineering staff aren't 100% sure it works that way in real life...

The good part: It's very VERY likely that Quaiffe will start selling a Hyundai LSD. Even if the AWD Eclipse diff doesn't work, my contact at Quaiffe said there are several other models to look at (now that he knows what we need) that may work just as well: Neon, non-turbo DSM, EVO5/6.

The bad part: Break out the credit card, because it's not cheap. The AWD Eclipse front diff lists for $995 plus shipping and you still gotta install it. However, it's a whole buttload better than a KAAZ unit, both in strength, long term reliability, driveability and maintenance requirements.

Kick ass!

The Quaife unit isn't THAT much more than the KAAZ unit. If it fits...I'll take one!
