A LOT of companies actually use OEM components as a starting point. Do you know how expensive it is to design a brand new clutch system from scratch? LOL

Most times they upgrade the pressure plate springs with stiffer units to raise the clamping force and include a higher friction clutch disc and call it done. Typically Stage 1 and 2 Clutch systems are the stock pressure plate and springs with just a higher friction disc. Stage 3 and above usually get higher plate springs as well as even higher friction discs like carbon, kevlar or ceramic.

That is why I didnt say I say its stock based on the obvious rattle can work. Someone who rebuilds clutchs, pp, etc all day.. for everything from race cars to big trucks confirmed. That thing is just painted. The springs are untouched.

If they didn't claim more clamping force I wouldn't make fun of it. Still not a bad price for stock stuff with another clutch.

Eh.. XTD uses a valeo throw out bearing, hyundai uses a valeo with HMA stamped on it.. same stuff. Also the pressure plates are stock painted red. confirmed by a clutch rebuilding comparing who then laughing until he cried about it.
thats not stock (and were the extra bite comes from, notice the smaller surface area of the puc design and the different material)
that is some highspeed red paint. and no I didn't say it was stock. Someone that knows alot more about clutches than I do confirmed it. It was funny.. even the rivets had the same letters stamped on them. Now.. is it a bad buy for someone who isnt making alot of power? Not really.. good price even compared to stock. Saying that's an upgraded pressure plate is LOL IMO.

That pressure plate is 50% over stock if it has 312 stamped on the splines. The stocker has nothing stamped on it. That's how you tell. All the manufacturers use the same one, but paint it different and put a different name on it. Check out the clutch review thread. https://www.hyundaiaftermarket.org/forum/in...45380&st=20

Perfection zoom on the left. XTD with a different pressure plate on the right

The 312 is the only identifying mark.

I did not like the XTD clutch.

Btw... I'm running a perfection Zoom with a XTD lightweight flywheel. I trust the flywheel from XTD. It carries a certification. However, their clutch has had nothing but problems. It's not as bad as XTR/F1 though.

You should look at a Perfection Zoom from Advanced. The sucker has a organic clutch disk with a increased load pressure plate. I've never been happier with a clutch. It has serious knock-back power when I want it, or I can drive smooth like a grandma with no additional effort.

Just in case anyone has been wondering...
The stock disc has been holding 10 pounds of boost on a okay tune for a little over a week now and has not slipped for me at all. I did take it easy for the first ~50 miles then just started to beat it.
Maybe I should of got that one DTN got from advance but I rushed and bought a stage 2 clutch masters on ebay. When it does finally go ill change it out. Im not in a rush to pull the tranny again while taking 4 college classes and working 30 hours a week.
