Default Limited Slip

I recently bought my '97 tiburon and noticed that out of every burn out i do, i leave 2 perfectly black tread marks behind for every honda to loom over. Most cars stock don't come with a limited slip at least for front engine front wheel drive cars. I've read articles on limited slips like a viscous coupling or a Quaife limited slip for Focus' and Integras but is there such a thing for Tibs? Because i love leaving a pair of streaking rubber marks every time i leave the car wash!

Quaife does not make an LSD for the Tib,but KAAZ do make them for our cars.I was told that the KAAZ is not that great and the Quaife is a better designed unit!!
ASK RED ABOUT THIS,he explained the difference betwwen the two somewhere but do a search and you will be able to find it.
Im not sure if RED is still up for a group buy on the Quaife LSD as they can make them for the Tiburon if we have enough people who would be intrested!!

You can "load up" the front end and make it drag both tires by small steering input while losing traction.

Kaaz makes a clutched limited slip differential specifically for the Elantra/Tiburon transmission, but because it's clutched it has a tendancy to grab (sometimes when you don't expect it), the fluid must be kept VERY clean, it generates a lot of heat it still doesn't last as long.

The Quaife unit is a gear-driven limited slip that is nearly maintenance free and holds significantly more power. It also is very linear in it's slip-limiting, so you don't get any wierd suprises in the middle of a sweeper or decreasing-radius curve.

Unfortunately, Quaife does not make an LSD specific to any Hyundais and the price is too high to get enough interest in having them make a few dozen for us. So the only alternative is to buy the FRONT differential from a 2nd-gen AWD Eclipse. You then have to take the diff apart, flip the roll pins 180-degrees that sit against the casing and then reassemble the unit.

This effectively voids the warranty on the $1000 LSD you just bought, but it works. I *will* be doing this on my car in my "project" transmission. More than about 250WHP will break a stock differential, hence my need for a Quaife.

Can you explain a little more in detail about the Talon AWD Differential?
I want to get an LSD for my Tiburon but need a little more info on how to modify it to fit in our Cars.I want to then pass this information to my machanic to do the install.Thanks in advance Rob!!

Is it just me or is reading comprehension skill level pretty low around here today? This is like the 3rd post (all by different users) that asks a question that is already answered but the reader misunderstands.

As you can see...since he is talking about $1000 LSD's and Warranty...he is refering to the Quaife unit

Random i did read what RED Wrote stating that all you do Flip the pins to 180 degrees,i understand tyhis but wanted to know if there was anything else to be aware of during the installation.
IE:Would it be campatable with a 1.8L tranny!!

I still find my it hard to believe that those marks were left from a stock unit. I know what you mean by giggling the wheel during a burnout to slip both wheels, but i kept it steady as a rock on that run and every other. I dunno, food for thought!

Someone might have slipped a "phantom grip" into your differential prior to your purchasing it, or someone may have installed the KAZZ LSD prior to your purchasing it. You might want to investigate it. If it is the KAZZ LSD in there, you need to change your gear oil at every other oilchange (about 5000 to 6000 miles).
