Default Lightened flywheel with turbo....good or bad??

I have read as much as I can on the subject from previous posts but I am still undecided which way to go. I have the Alpine turbo, I am going to be replacing my clutch soon, it would be nice to change the flywheel while everything is apart. I have read that for turbo duty it may be bad as revs would drop between shifts quickly and steal some useful turbine spool. Is it worth putting in a lightened flywheel with my setup?? Red, Random??

I actually believe that it will help!! The quicker revving engine will in turn help the turbo spool up faster. As far as upshifts...dont really know...i do know that on my Tibby with the Fidanza Flywheel..I dont have a problem with powerband dropping too low, as long as i shift properly and quickly (powershift). I would think there should not be a problem there either..but again...dont really now a turbo's characteristics.

it'll also depends on your shifting. If you granny shift then it may drop some rev's before you can get it into the next gear, but you'd have to drop 3grand worth of rev's before you even consider loosing your turbo spool (unless you shift very low...which is silly). Some people won't remove their foot from the gas pedal so the engine maintains its momentum. But this has to be done propely and should only be done during racing, because you can easily bounce of your redline.

But to answer your question, a lightened flywheel is better than the stock for your setup. Quicker rev's allows for quicker spooling and takeoff.

I have the fidanza unit on my '97 tib also. The revs don't drop really fast like in video games so there shouldn't be any reason why one's tibuorn would drop out of the power band/loose boost from shifting. You don't need to row the shifter like lightening to acheive a proper shift; as a matter of fact normal shifting while driving will suffice. Just don't be too lazy or it will eventually fall like a brick. I recommend one as the faster falling characteristics save your synchros on the tranny too.
