since the amsoil equivalent probably trashed my trans, i want to know how it holds up:p then again, so far it appears to be just the bearing (still cant get the tech info to properly check and rebuild AARRGG!!) so maybe i just had some bad luck? incredibly terribly bad luck?

I've had the redline MT90 in my trans in my 04 gsi for apx 2 years. No problems what-soever. I do have the squeak from the slave cylinder though, I figure I can fix it when I do the free slave cylinder mod in spring.

LOL I know, just haven't seen many pics or anything of the process. Sure the manual has it, but a lot of good that always does. Personal experience > shop manual.

Do we really need a transmission gear oil DIY? It can be done, but this job is even less complicated than engine oil . . .

Except I can't find a bendy funnel for putting it in, and don't know 100% where the 2 bolts are...

i would say the only 'trick' is during filling. i find the easiest backyard method is to keep the car on level ground, and get some 3/8" tubing (or maybe it was 1/2". been a while) and stuff that in the fill port. use a funnel on the other end and pour oil in until it starts to dribble out. takes time to pour it in, but if you have no special filling tools/funnels this is an easy way.
