my guess is that your tranny is going. This is what was happening to my first one,and a few weeks later it kept getting worse and worse, then it finnally went.Luckly i was coverered under warrenty.hope it gets better, because if it doesn't you likely going to need a new one.
P.S. do you drive your car pretty hard?

You could spend $80 and have the dealer diagnose the problem to tell you what is exactly wrong.

You could go on ebay (used) call st charles (hyundai discount for a new one) and get it replaced.

You could do a swap to a 5spd. smile.gif

I would recoommend if you have the cash to get another one put in. Send your torque convertor to levelten and get the upgrade. I will give you tranny more responsive so you wont need to beat it so hard.

I recommend the swap to 5spd since its out of warranty and the Automatics made for the BETA engine have always been ****ty.

Try this. Start the car and go for a drive down the road and back and make sure the car has warmed up. No leave the car on put the E-brake on. Shift from first to second to drive and then to park. Take the dip stick out and check your transmission oil. It should be Redish.

Its its blackish or brownish its burnt.

If its burnt replace the fluid immediatly. And see if that helps. Also since you are in TX you may want to invest in a transmission cooler.

my tranny has been ****ty ever since i got the car. replaced it twice already. i dont race on the current one and i installed a tranny cooler and new performance fluid. our trannies just get so hot they practically just disinigrate. sorda most likely its shot or just some linkage on the gears. either that or your computer is telling it to go into neutral. which is unlikely. time for a rebuilt.

Dont invest in a cooler, till you have checked the coniditon of the fluid and told us.

remeber it has to be done AFTER a short drive.

how many miles is on the transmission and when was the last the fluid was change anyway?
