Default hve shortshifter

I want to get a short shifter but the shark racing one says the car needs slight modification. I don't like that idea so i found the one made by hve(www.hve.com.au). Does anyone know if this shifter is any good or does it also require modification.

Any help would be great

The HVE unit is actually fairly cheap considering the exchange rate. Just keep in mind, they will charge you an extra $30 or so for a "core" charge, but you will get that back if you send your stock shifter to them.

Well kinda I guess,... it's like $50 + $30 (core exchange) = $80US more than the SR one, anyone know what the shipping would cost to the States / North America?

By the way, the install instructions for the short shifter is for a new body style Tib. I have a 98 and you will have to cut more that what is shown at speedstate.com. I installed mine today. But when I assembled it all together, I could not get it in first. I will have to pull it all apart AGAIN and cut more plastic. sad.gif Although it seems to be a good shifter for a lot less . Eric-

Cut down the "ramps" that the shifter cables slide on. You just need to smooth them out a tad. The cable ends get jammed on the sharp edges, and you can't get into first.

It is fairly stiff when first installed, but after a week or so, it really smooths out.

I have yet to see the HVE short Shifter in person, but the "no cutting" may appeal to some people, and be worth the extra $$$. It looks like a damn fine unit. The SR unit is cheaper though!

The cable side was fine. I already had shaved that piece like in the picture. However, the shifter was hitting on the thick piece of plastic that is near the spring assembly. I cut it this morning and everything is awsome. wink.gif Later HondaEater.
Oh yeah, very tight shifting right now.

You also have to consider the fact that HVE's unit is a unit that is remanufactured from a stock unit while ours is made from scratch... Not that it makes a lot of difference, but just so you know.

Shark Racing will soon be discontinuing our current short shifter and releasing a brand new model. No modifications will be necessary, and it is the same design as the shifters for other cars like Civics... Cost will probably be a little higher, but it is a much nicer unit. I have one in my car right now, and the shifting is a lot smoother than even the old short shifter that I had. We will also try to get these made for Accents...
