MT-90 usually eliminates the 1st to 2nd grind/bang. I almost replaced my trans 100k miles ago because it was so bad. Now it's finally gotten bad enough again that I think I'll need a new trans soon.

Stocker,I'm just answering what the topic question is ,"Regit, this is only a little over 200% of stock power and clearly not an indication of reliability. "...topic question is "How much power can the stock beta trannys take?"..not how much abuse it can take.

i think i`m on tranmission #6 right now in the accent...

i tried both the beta1 and beta2 trans so far i prefer the beta1

i stripped out the 3rd when i was N/A 2 times...

stipped it again a few timeswith my old turbo set-up (super 60)

each of them had a quaife LSD in it

(no data for the new turbo set up i didn't put much miles on it yet

it's a bit a running joke, i have one already built, i just need to slip in the quaife and put it back on the car then rebuild the "old" one again...

i got 2 local guys who are stripping out 5th on a "regular" basis..

the turbo GK i just got also had a stripped out 3rd gear in it

one thing that will help 5th gear, put the trans AT LEAST 1/2 quart overfull

Yes, I see Denisst's post, I could pull up a few other posts as well but it's irrelevant. What really needs to be said is under what conditions said damage occurred. Also, he said himself that the beta1 is preference, so there is something to be said for different drivers styles. The point being that while we all know Hyundai cut corners during manufacturing (either themselves or by contracting the lowest bidder.) And I will be the first to admit that others made quality units that stood up to a lot more punishment. But the fact that we're complaining about the reliability of a bone stock transmission after spending countless dollar/hours tuning the engine. In my opinion that's an unfair expectation. My argument being that it's not even close to the doomsday scenario that you are implying. For that matter there are mods that can be done to the trans to help it along, hence my recommendation for a master list. By all means, please offer more solutions! Lets keep this constructive

Also don't get so butthurt by a few jokes. If you noticed each one of my posts had rep pandering. I know the humping stick figure and foul bachelor frog look deadly serious, but trust me on this one

Proof of what? That the transmissions are weak of course, because power levels were posted to accompany the cars Dennis mentioned? Oh, wait . . .

damn... i didn't mean to start a war...

for the turboed cars i can understand the failure

but my NA set-up in street trim wasn't that wild... not exactly sure why it happened back then...

to help, more oil and better oil (mt-90 and syncromesh works fine for most) but at a certain point i feel that an oil that will hold to the gear better will help

shootpeening,glass beading will help

deburring the gears might help in some cases, but when i did it i had the same failure
