HELP! SR ShortShifter
I just installed the SR shortshifter. But I can't shift smoothly.
I know that I must adjust the shift or control cables. But I don't know exactly how. I don't know which cable must I adjust. Also I don't know how the cable is adjusted.
I already checked with the Hyundai WebTech but it does not go in detail in how to set the cables.
Any help please?

If the problem is when you go into 2nd and 4th then you need to install 2 washers under the shift plate in the front. If that's not it then you might have to cut some more of the plate off to keep from hitting. I noticed on my install the the screw on the driver side of the console (middle screw) was in the way, and had to be removed. Check those 3 and see if that helps.
QuikTib,
Thanks for replying. But I referred to past posts. I already placed the washers, a washer under each front bolt. Also I did remove any obstructing material.
What is it about this screw?
I remember from an old post, that one of the cables needs to be adjusted. But I don't know which one to adjust and how.

I had the problem with that screw too. I took my car out for a test drive after I installed everything (I hadn't put the cover back on yet) and everything worked great. Then, after I got it back together, It would not let me shift into reverse. Took me forever to figure out what the problem was, but it turns out that that tiny screw, when in all the way, blocks the movement of the shift lever. rolleyes.gif

I too had a problem with that screw. I just removed it. I just installed my short shifter a week or two ago. Shifting is getting smoother. Although, I noticed that the cables were slightly bent after the install and were not as smooth in 2nd and 4th. I Think it is alright. Will the bent cables cause a future problems? They seem to have a little give. Later HondaEater

Green Shark, As far as I know as long as you cut the base plate properly then you will have no problem!
I don't know who told you to mess with the cables but I did not have to do this in my 1998 Tib
It took a while to get the shift smooth but a little patience and time spent cutting the base plate solves the problem.
Hope you get it sorted
Chris

I had the same problem with mine. The cable was hitting the metal floor. And also the shifter was hitting the plastic ring around the shifter. Then it got smoother but I found out why. It turns out that shifter put the cable at an angle with caused it to break the plastic around the cable. And then it actually broke the steel cable in half as well. I drive to a shop with only 1-3-5 with a pair of pillars. Got it fixed under warrenty. Then I traded the short shifter for a set of altezzas. And the same thing happened to him. But I got the shifter from MHP not Sharkracing.

I'll post up a photo to night to help explain, but I'll give it a shot in just words.
You need to cut down the sharp edges where the cables are. Basically make "ramps" for them to slide back up on the plastic. If you leave sharp 90 degree edges, the cable snags those edges. If you cut them off at an angle and make a ramp with it, it should improve things.
