1. Please do not use all caps.

2. Anything is possible but would it be worth the amount of money you would have to pay on the labor alone to take apart the tranny?

The A/T is a service tech's wet-dream when it comes to labor costs and nightmare when it comes to actually fixing it. I've seen one after it was taken apart and I didn't realize the amount of parts involved. Not to mention it's all computer controlled which even complicates things even more. If you really want a better A/T, contact Levelten Performance and inquire about a torque converter upgrade or total tranny rebuild. In the end it may cost less than trying to change the gear ratios.

Yeah,, they're not really gears in the traditional sense, more like bands and clutches, and godforsaken valve bodies... OUCH what a headache!

yea you can change you're final drive ratio but it's expensive... and remember, a side effect of messing with your final drive ratio will affect your miles per gallon and such. I don't know how dramatically and it might not even be noticable, but it might be something else to consider

Automatic transmission consists mainly of drive and driven plates, front pump and torque converter, controlled by the valve body and AT Computer. There is also a kickdown servo and pulse generator sensors to keep tabs on everything.

Changing the gear ratios is extremely expensive because it requires very tight tolerance machine work, and some custom fabrication. The aftermarket valve body and front pump will also be very expensive. Yes, the final drive ratio can be changed and a LSD introduced, but again, the labour costs would be incredible. Why not go for the cheaper, and warrantied Level-10 conversion, or complete AT rebuild if you want it to be reliable under extreme power applications? It makes a lot more sense. Especially the warranty part.

All that = one complicated piece of technology. If you want a more detailed explanation including pictures check out www.howthingswork.com and go to the automotive section. There you can search for A/T.
