Hi everyone!
I have a 1997 hyundai fx coupe (tib) in full production rally trim
Engine has lumpy cams 405 lift 280 duration, h beam rods, forge pistons, head porting etc.
Gearbox has a set of straight cut gears in it (unsure of manufacturer)
Ratios are 2.75, 2.06,1.72,1.44,0.814
FD: 4.05
My question is, options for final drives for these gearboxs? Or is there other manufacturers that share the same internals?
I'm looking for a 4.9:1-5.1:1 even shorter if possible?
Cheers Luke

Off the top of my head, 4.05 is one of, if not the, lowest FD ratio available in the beta gearboxes. You could try some smaller profile tyres if it's desperate.

There were different transmissions sold all over the world. I can't vouch for South America, but in Europe I know that many of the transmissions used were very different than the ones we got in the States. You may need research it locally to verify. The MFA60 is a 6 speed, in the US we only got that one in the V6 tibs, but if you can find a UK bell housing from a 2.0 C'eed it should mate pretty easily. given the correct clutch... and a willingness to chop the engine bay apart. It's going to be a bit longer than the 5-speed and even the Beta2 5-speeds are a tight fit in an RD bay.
I am working on a rebuild myself, but the donor transmission was from a 1.8l beta. It's probably close to what you have, but the 1.8's used a 3.84 which is likely the opposite of what you're tying to achieve.

hello,
I haven't been able to find anything shorter then the 4.05 in australia. There is always the road to a custom set of gears.
As anyone else found anything?
Cheers
