Default Fidanza Flywheel & the 1/4

I'm asking this question because there's speculation that the Fidanza flywheel hurts your time in the 1/4. Is this true? and if so Why?

Speculations:

1. It chatters at certain RPM's

2. Upgraded Clutch kits warp the flywheel very quick

3. High Idle

4. Unable to launch vehicle at high Rpm's

5. Isn't reliable for every day use. (longevity)

Well were to start!

1-5, There all wrong,

1. Your Flywheel doesn't chatter, that would be bad, the clutch chatters. Also the clutch shouldn't chatter unless it was improperly broken in.

2. I am running a stage 5 competition clutch on the 5lb flywheel for about a year now, yes i am push converted, but no it doesnt warp the flywheel, even with a clutch that can support 450Ftlbs of torque!

3. High idle? Um you have a idle air control motor that regulate the oxygen flow to the motor and sustaining the idle RPM's.

4. You can launch at what ever RPM you want, you will have less inertia with a lighter flywheel and your tires probably wont spin as long off the line and cause you to bhog, so you will resort to riding the clutch out like the AWD guys launch there cars!

5. The operate just like any other flywheel, these components will last as long as you let them, if you launch all the time, riding the clutch, then of course it will last for a shorter distance, the only time i have found these to be a b*tch , is with the stage 5 Clutch kit, and a super light flywheel, I find it hard to start in traffic or at lights. as there is not slipping of the clutch, it just wants to bit and go, which is awesome by your self but driving around your GF, or Wife, they dont like to deal with it all the time!

Hope that helps, also i am boosted running a 5lb flywheel, and turbo setup, just to put things into speculation of where i am coming from!
