early 2000 to late 2000 trans diffrences
what is the diffrences between the 2000 and earlier and 2000 and later tib and elantra 5 spd trans
as i have read that there is a diffrence
i picked one up for real good price it's supposed to be out of a 2000 elantra
is there a way i could find out what year trans i have

i know theres is difference in engines between 1st gens and 2nd gens
as far as tranny.... none that i can think of
the elantra has different gear ratios
the flywheel dept on the 2nd gen engine is also different from the first gen
but thats engine

I've check in my service manuals on manual transmission overhaul....and the 1.8 L 5 spd elantra do have a taller final drive. flywheels are a tad different. Elantra has a taller final drive.

Since the 1.8 and 2.0 are very similar and the 1.8 transmission will bolt up to the 2.0 Your acceleration times should improve?
hey whats up guys not sure the production date of the switch but the beta's used two revisions of the same trans the m5bf1 and m5bf2 the only major diffrence is in the 5 gear housing in the m5bf1 there is only a double staked retaining nut holding the fifth speed onto the shaft in the m5bf2 they incorporated a small retaining plate into the housing cover. see 1st through 4th gear are actually inside the trans case but 5th is in its own housing so had no support they changed the design to renforce the fifth speed. i can shoot some digital photos for you guys if you would like let me know.

as fo the 5spd trans mount
is it the actual rubber moumt that needs to be changed or just the bracket on the trans
as the tranny i got came with all three brackets

You're doing a Auto To manual SWAP!!!!
From what I understand, you'll need to replace the mounts on both sides (tranny, and bolted to frame), and the rubber inserts that go with them.

does the revised 5th gear retaining stuff mean you can put power into 5th gear without it shredding like it used to or is it still a weak link?
