How many people have a girlfriend or wife that knows how to drive a manual transmission? i just taught mine yesterday and she did a great job even on a hill with cars behind us.

My girl wants to learn, but its probably not good to teach her (or anyone else), if you have a clutch thats anything but stock/OEM. Aggressive clutches are usually pretty hard to learn to drive on.

she doesn't know how to drive but if ever she learns, i'll start her right with a manual transmission car.

Maybe an old beat-up 1996 Civic would be a nice training car

Taught my wife to drive a standard in my truck, hell she shifts smoother then I do around town.

If my wife was stuck, she could drive a stick, but she isn't going to win any races. I remember my dad telling me about teaching my mom to learn how to drive standard in his 1970 Nova SS. He would get pissed because she could "bark" the tires in 3rd gear but he never could! LOL! My mom (who is in her 60's now) is still a lead foot driver and was the person who taught me to drive many years ago. Thanks Mom!
