Default Clutch Slippage?

Ok I know I'm gonna hear it from you guys for this one but here goes. I used to be able to bark my tires shifting into second gear then my car would pull real hard to the left (Torque Steer?). This was only when I was really hoggin' it down the street and trying to get somewhere quick but it was cool to be able to do this. Recently (past week or two) it just doesn't seem to be able to do this. It still has the same power as before but it feels like my clutch is slipping. Although every now and then it does still bark my tires just not as good as it used to. Does my clutch need replaced, my hydraulic clutch line need adjusted? I only have 17.5k miles on my car and I didn't think the clutch would go out that soon. If it isn't my clutch can I adjust the hydraulic line myself? Or do I have to take it back to my shi**y-a$$ dealer?

You can bleed the Hydraulic line just like bleeding brakes. A complete flush might do your system good.

Changing out your gear oil for a good quality synthetic wouldn't hurt either.

It could just be the air temp/pressure in your area. Has it been hotter the past week compared to last week? Hot pavement=warmer tires=bettter grip. hotter air=Less power. The combination of the two could be the problem Have you done any "late night runs" to see if your power goes up when it is cooler?

Also...fuel filters should be replaced every 20,000. You are almost due. It also could be a bad tank of gas, or your plugs could be slighlty fowled. (clean em off with a wire brush).

The way to tell if your clutch is slipping is to floor it in 5th gear from about 35 MPH. if the Engine RPMs go up faster than the speed....your clutch is slipping.

Good point about 5th gear Random. No I guess it couldn't be my clutch then. I'll check out the filter and the tranny fluid. I know Reid told me he noticed a big difference when he put in some better transmission fluid. Thanks for the info.
