Default Clutch or not?

Okay, recently I tried to do a race, and I tried something I've never really tried before.. I revved the engine up to about 4k RPMs, then popped the clutch and punched the gas. I was figuring this would car wheel spin, however, it didn't. It didn't really make me move at all, the engine stayed highly revved, but I hardly started moving until I let off the gas considerably. What could have been the problem on this? 98 Tib Fx, 5 speed Manual.. I can't figure it out. I thought for sure I would have some major tire/wheel spinnage.

That would be the clutch you smoked rather than the tires.

4000 RPM clutch "pops" are about as advisable as shifts into reverse at 60 MPH.

Next time, try lauching at 2500, and SLIP the clutch out. If done properly, you engage the clutch very quickly.

Hmm.. okay.. and as a side note just so I don't look 100% stupid and only look 98% stupid, I didn't mean pop it out as in just let off the clutch.. Just used pop because was first term that came to mind.. should have been more specific. Thanks again!

No worries, we all make mistakes and accidents happen.
