Clutch Feels Funny?
I have a 2001 Tib.. She has about 13K miles on her.. A Friend of mine has a 2001 and he has 20K on his.. His clutch's throw is SOOOO much shorter than mine.. I am not sure if it is a breaking in issuse, of if I have the bastard Clutch.. Another friend of mine has a 2000 Tib, and his clutch feels nice and broken in also.. Do you guys think it is a breaking in issue? Hope you agree with me.. That is what I tuhink it is.. smile.gif

Your "throw" could be due to the loading point differences between your cars. This can be easily adjusted by adjusting the master cylinder push road at your clutch pedal. Could be a good idea to bleed the clutch (if it's good) although I don't think it will change your loading point.
Ok Matt, thanks for bringing this up. I have a 98 tib. 60,000 miles. I've owned it for about 13 months now and put on well over 20,000 miles. I don't notice a difference in the clutch since i bought it. However I might be like the frog in water that's being heated up (dunno if anyone caugh that)
ANYWAY... i drove a 97 and a 99 tib the other day. Both of their clutches let out ALOT closer to the floor board than mine. Comparable mileage on both cars. Is there a way to adjust this? And if so, could someone put it into dummy terms for me? MANY thanks in advance.

I would change the fluid/bleed the system for a start. I do mine every 12,000 miles or 1 year, which ever comes first (same for brake fluid).
If that doesn't change things to your likeing, try checking the pedal linkage and remove all traces of free play or slop.
Lastly...I think it was ChrisH, someone posted up a "how to" on how to remove the restrictor in the clutch hydraluic system to give a more "consistent" feel. I think I have it saved, I'll try to dig it up, or find it in the Fxtreme archives.

i for one (especially after reading tuckers probs with a still-new car) think that these are all just by-products of ****ty drivetrains! sorry hyundai.. but yea they're ****ty. and don't bust on me we allll know how so many lc clutches have been going to **** at 25K miles or sooner... disgusting!
i think it's... the closer the clutch is to the floor when it engages/disengages, the newer it is. like the thicker the fricion material, and the more it grads, the more it takes to disengage he clutch, ie, more pushing down effort with your foot. if its right near the floor theres usually little play, is just IN or OUT (or stall..hehe) the more worn it gets the higher up the pedal travel he engagment point is. now, you can't use that as a judgement with every car u get in tho, because you can adjust that.

Black Devil... yes as the clutch gets older / more worn out it will catch further from the floor. The gripping surface of your clutch wears down so it takes longer to engage the pressure plate. That's correct. However, I checked my clutch when I first bought the car. It was still 60-70% The girl who had it before me before treated it quite well. The "play" in the clutch pedal is way more than it should be. I'm going to try bleeding the system next weekend. *crosses fingers for nice weather* But if it comes down to it, I'll just buy a Stage 2
