Default Clutch

Ok... my clutch is dying bad along with my tranny. 12,000kms and the syncro's are blown in 3rd gear and the clutch is not holding as well anymore. Note i never do peelouts or do drag races/launches. I do do navigational rallies with my car and some back road driving, but am not hard on my tranny. First im going to hyundai to get them to fix the syncros, then after that i want to get a new clutch. The stock one i think is worthles.

My question to you guys (especially random and red), to upgrade the clutch and its holding power and feel (feel stronger and harder to press down), what do i need?.. just a clutch disk, or do i need pressure plates and all.
Could you guys tell me exactly what i need to get and the best place to go to. Im not too knowledgable on this subject, but all i know is the stock clutch needs to go (specially cuz im gonna be running some mods later on).

The clutch pedal should not be harder to push in, regardless of which clutch you go with. Our clutches are Hydraluic, so the fluid is doing the work, not your leg (as with cable clutches)

There are many different clutch choices out there, but which one you want to go with depends on where you want to take the car HP/Torque wise, and how much "chatter" you're willing to put up with.

If you've had this kind of tranny problem after just 12000 KM...I would reccomend a STOCK clutch. If you go to an aftermarket clutch, you could possibly void the warranty on the tranny. If there is something inherently wrong with it from the factory, and it dies again after another 12000 km...you would be out of luck...and warranty.

You can alwasys upgrade the clutch later after you have some mods.

hmmm..

an aftermarket clutch will void warrenty?

random.. about the pressure needed to push the clutch pedal in, I had a Porsche 944 and that was infact a hydralic clutch and the press was Alot harder than my stock tibby's clutch. Nothing like a testarosa which requires you are superman, but it was definatly Noticably different, as well i do believe my father's Audi S4 is hydralic as well and has the same feel.

Or is there any way possible to make it seem like i need more effort (don't ask why but i like it when its stiffer), is there anyway of changing the fluids or anything to make it a tad stiffer?

You are talking apples and Porsches and Ferrari's. Different car setups do indeed have different clutch pedal strengths, however, the pedal effort for a hydraluic cluch should not change significatnly when you change the clutch pressure plate as it would when you install a stiffer pressure plate/clutch on a cable pull clutch system. If the Porsche and Ferrari are indeed Hydraluic (and on the rear engine cars, I assume they are), then the effort will not increase/decrease with a clutch/pressure plate change, they are just like that from the factory.

You could mess with the hydraluics to restrict the fluid flow, that would in effect increae pedal effort...but I would not reccomend messing with the system until you know it inside and out.

hmm..

to all three... i answer..FAAAAAAKKK...

clutch voids warrenty... if you think of the logistics of it, they should favor a higher strength clutch, it will prolong the life of the tranny.. but oh well

i guess im screwed too for the feel, oh well... beggars cant be choosers i suppose. *sigh*
