Default cable speedo to electronic speedo

hey all, ok I have been researching doing a beta gearbox to go onto my alpha motor... I can get a brand new gearbox but i am fairly sure that it will be a cable speedo. Now if i just remove the cable speedo drive out of the box and put my electric on in will it work? and will it be acurate?

Cheers Ryan

I was for awhile using a cable speedo on an 02 elantra trans there for awhile until I swapped it back to eletric, course that means I had to change my gauge cluter to an 03 accent, what a pain that was.
