I had the same problem, '97 model, and there was a service bulletin for replacing the auto TCU.
It could be the same problem, but I think hyundai fixed it after the early models.

Well as of now i am fully expecting to be re-installing my stock TB and seeing if i still have the problem.
If the problem goes away i will be in line for the SR BBTB with CC

Well, my problem was fixed.
It was a speed sensor. Basically, the ECU couldn't tell how fast the car was going so it shifted the A/T into the safest lowest gear to cause the car to slow down.
Total time to fix and test: 1.5 hours.
It took the techs all but 10 minutes to hook it up to the computer for the error code.
Warranty item.

Since you car is still under warranty take it in and have it checked. If it's the same problem it shouldn't take more than 2 hours.

Wow, that's a lot of miles. Well I know it will be between $70 and $90 just to hook the computer up to your car to check any error codes. Figure 2 hours of labor to replace the part, (if it's what I think it is), at $55 to $70 per hour and whatever the part cost.

I installed the factory TB now everything is back to normal. Any ideas as to what is wrong with this BBTB on my tib? otherwise it is really nice looking 62.5mm so if anyone else is interested in trying it i am selling it for $200 + shipping I paid $250.

TiburonGuy99 your local Autozone (if they have them in Lubbock)will run the code for you for free. They most likely won't have the part you need but you can get that from the dealer or St. Charles Automotive.

yes we have an autozone we have everything but a pep boys(darn no apc crap for me) here in lubbock I'm going to take it by there.
