I was not happy with how slow the syncro between 1st and 2cnd was on my 02 Elantra so I found some new fluid. It is BG syncro shift. The stuff works excellent, the syncro can now keep up with the quickness of my shift without crunching and the gear changes are much more slick feeling. The notchy feeling is almost completely gone.

They also have a nice catch can if you want to run your pcv lines away from the intake. the $49 one.

I actually have the same problem in my Tib, and with other 5 speed cars I have owned. My Tib sometimes feels crunchy when I shift gears normally. Another thing I hate is sometimes, and quite often, it won't go in to first. I can get around this by putting it in second, then back up to first most of the time. Other times I have to go in to second, creep forward a couple of feet, and then back in to first. Keep in mind this is at a dead stop. It's very annoying, especially when the light turns green and I'm still in neutral. Did you have that problem too, and if so, did the new tranny fluid cure that problem as well??

My trans has some differences to the 97-01 tib trans. I can't say for sure if it will cure your 1st gear engagement problem. My car did not do this. I just didn't like the notchy feeling between shifts

can anyone weigh in on whether or not this stuff is safe for our yellow metal synchros? I remember that the mobil-1 (i think) gear fluid is nasty for us, and want to make sure before any of us make a change that we aren't doing more damage than good

My tib wont go good into first if I'm in any kind of motion. Even if I'm doing like 5 km/h and IO put it in first...click click click damn gears grind. And when I put it into reverse from a stand still *clank* Putting my car in reverse is loud. I'm starting to think my syncros for 1st gear are going/gone.

I can tell you that the bottle states it can be used wherever GL4 is specified. GL4 is what is specified for our cars.

Try double clutching into first, it makes it easier by lining up the synco teeths. Sometimes at a stop the syncos don't line up with the syncro hub.

When I first got my elantra I occassionally had trouble getting it into first gear but that problem disappeared over time. The only gear that can be a pain is reverse forcing me to double clutch. Not often but a little annoying at times.

i have a problem with reverse too... I can stick in in the spot, but the geare does not engage. I have to hold the shifter there and left off the clutch an inch and it will shift the rest of the way.

what is double-clutching? I know what power shifting is, but that's new for me...
