Default Tiburon tranny swap question

So I am thinking about swapping my auto for a manual in my 99 tiburon, I seen a 98 Accent with a manual transmission for sale and was wondering if the 5 speed from the accent with a 1.5L motor will bolt up to my tiburon?

not a good idea. I personally pulled an alpha trans off the side of a beta that shot its input shaft into the bell housing.

The beta trans are not that expensive, go with what was made for it on this one IMO

The Elantra tranny actually has better gearing, so if you can get an Elantra tranny...do that. But like Wytch said...either a Tiburon or Elantra tranny will work since their both beta's.

Also there is some notching on the beta block that would need to be done to clear a spot for the clutch slave cylinder. This comparison was made with a 02 Accent 1.5L manual transmission and a 02 Elantra 2.0 Beta 2. I compared the beta 2 trans (Elantra) to the 1.5L Accent trans side by side when I was doing my beta swap, dimension wise they were almost identical down to the mount bracket mounting points. The major difference being, if I remember right, a bit longer and just a bit wider at the differential area were the axles go 1/4 inch wider on each side.

blah, check the gearing. The ratios vary from year to year, there is a chart somewhere around here.
