Damn that's heavy. I read that the steelies are 14.5 lbs, is that correct?
I'm considering buying the alloys from a junk yard. But I won't if they're that heavy. My car has a hard enough time trying to keep up with traffic as it is.

keep in mind that the J2 GL elantra's wear 175-65-14s as standard fitment..so it's steelies are different width from the J2 GLS. GL steelies are 14x5, GLS steelies are 14x5.5 and wear 195-60-14 as standard fitment
other than that..they are identical 4x114 lug pattern with a 67.1mm hub bore, same as the x3 and ef sonata, gk, rd and many other hyundai's.

99-00 J2s come standard with 195/60/14s with both the steelie and alloy. They are both 14x5.5
my mistake..my early model j2 has the 14x5 wheels,
i guess the 99-00 elantras did away with the 14x5's...oh well, the 14x5 with the 175-65-14 fitment is lighter and acceleration and steering is light but great.
you may wanna try some mitsubishi wheels, like the early lancer or mirage or colt wheels, the alloys are lighter than the hyundai wheels.
