Default PROS/CONS to Static Balancing over Sticky wheel wieghts?

Had my tires balanced at a tire shop this week and I was offered a choice. I have never heard the term Static Balance before. They used wheel weights but placed them on the inside of the rim edge. Any thoughts? The salesrep said it would give me a better balnce.

dynamic balance balances the left and right sides of the tire/wheel assembly, whereas the static balance just balances top to bottom and not side to side.

dynamic is better

What he said^^ if they have a good balancer and/or technician they can dynamic balance with sticky weights for both the inside an outside plains. If they have a really nice balancer you can split the weight up on the outside plain and hide them behind the spokes. If they only static balance and placed the weight on the inside plain they need more training. Static balanced wheels should have a sticky weight in the center to minimize disturbance in the dynamic range. Static balance does not give you better balance. I have been training people on balancers for set up and training for near 10 years now so I know what im talking about.
