okkkk... the story here is...

First off this has happened to me before and I had good year replace the whole caliper last time for like $5** bucks. that was maybe 3 or 4 years ago. Now again my e-brake froze up on me after using it after stopping by a friends house to pick him up to go fishing. After he got in the car, I started to drive away and the car felt somewhat heavier, I just figured it was the 5 fishing poles and two coolers loaded with beer and bait, and a tackle box. SO I continued to drive... I drove for maybe five minutes on route 40 which has a average speed limit of 50m.p.h. When I pushed the clutch in I realized the e-brake was still on as the car started to slow down quickly as if I had my foot on the brake!!!! The e-brake light is not on on the dashboard. It became locked after using it and putting it down. The e-brake did not disengage. now im pretty sure that rear caliper doesnt even clamp correctly, not to mention it probably has no brake bad since a billow of smoke poured out of it.

The symptoms of his problem happened to be the e-brake feeling looser and looser with each use on both occasions this has happened to me. Does this happene to anyone elses Tiburons??? Or is there a problem with our e-brake calipers? or is it the e-brake wire??? as how can this prob be solved other than replacement. lol.

big time problem for just about all tibs(and a lot of other cars for that matter) in semi-cold climates. you will need to replace the ebrake cables, the ends where they meet with the caliper are probably all rusted and seized up. its a little over 100 for both side from the dealer.

well, usually running with the calipers clamped on the rotor because of the seized ebrake cables causes the calipers to get so hot that the slide grease is just cooked.

Worst case: rebuild your caliper.

Replacing the cables isn't hard but you'll have to pull up your carpet from your back seats to be able to see whats going on down there.

Mike were junk like the picture as well. I took the little springy boot off and packed it with grease as well to keep water from rusting it.
