Hey guys I decided on getting rid of my power steering and going manual. I was told to bleed the fluid and remove the lines and block the holes. Do I have to get rid of the pulley, Any opinion would be great. Thanx

You dont have to but I would remove it and the pump and all lines to remove weight. Actually, I did.

I didn't remove the lines I connected them together using brass fittings from lowes. I did though remove the pump though. I would keep some fluid in the case if did block it off.

I hate power steering, plus the car is light so there is no need. I believe in only the bare necesseties.

It's always appropriate to remove anything not in use.. Switches, pullies, motors, whatever. There's no point in having useless or undesired parts on a car.

I took mine off, just took the belt off and rode around for about a year and it sucked. I had a few close calls driving, put the belt back on and damm I appreciate power steering. makes it a whole lot easier to get around traffic.

You should remove the pump as you lose like 15lbs when you remove the unit.

And life w/o power steering isnt hard at all with a light car like this, the only time you miss it is when you have to go from all the way one side to all the way the other side while completely stopped..

3-point turns, comes to mind ;-) the trick is to accelerate just a little as you turn the steering wheel all the way. The car's momentum helps you to turn the wheel.
